William H. Jackson

William Hicks “Red” Jackson, a West Point graduate, served briefly in the U.S. Army before resigning when the Civil War broke out. He joined the Confederate Army, rising to the rank of brigadier general commanding cavalry by the end of the war. He was born in 1835 and died in 1903.
