John G. Mitchell
John Grant Mitchell, an Ohio lawyer, served as a general in the Union Army during the Civil War, commanding a veteran infantry brigade in several major Western Theater campaigns including Chickamauga, Atlanta, and the Franklin-Nashville and Carolinas campaigns. Born in Piqua, Ohio, in 1838, he died in Columbus, Ohio, in 1894.
