Theodore Harvey Barrett commanded the 1st Missouri Colored Infantry Regiment as a Union officer in the final years of the Civil War, receiving a brevet to brigadier general. He is best known as the commander at the Battle of Palmito Ranch in May 1865, generally regarded as the last land battle of the Civil War. Born in Orangeville, New York, in 1834, he died in Minnesota in 1900.
