Oliver L. Spaulding

Oliver L. Spaulding rose to colonel (later brevet brigadier general) commanding the 23rd Michigan Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. After the war he entered politics, serving as Michigan Secretary of State from 1866 to 1870 and as a U.S. Representative from Michigan’s 6th district from 1881 to 1883, later holding several U.S. Treasury Department posts. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
