Felix A. Reeve, a native of Cocke County, Tennessee, remained loyal to the Union and served as colonel of the 8th Tennessee Volunteer Infantry (Union), fighting in several engagements across Tennessee and Georgia. After the war he built a distinguished legal and government career, serving as U.S. Solicitor of the Treasury from 1893 to 1897. He died in Washington, D.C. in 1920 and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
