Edward H. Wolfe served as an officer of the 52nd Indiana Infantry Regiment, rising from major to colonel by September 1862. He commanded brigades in the XVI Corps, Army of the Tennessee, through much of 1864, including service in the Department of the Cumberland. A merchant before the war, he was mustered out of the volunteers in January 1865. He was born in Rushville, Indiana, and died in 1916.
