Datus Ensign Coon was a Union Army officer during the Civil War who later became a newspaper publisher and planter in Alabama. During Reconstruction he served as a state legislator representing Dallas County in the Alabama House of Representatives and was a delegate to the 1875 Alabama Constitutional Convention. He was born in 1831 and died in 1893.
