Charles H. Wood

Rank: Lieutenant Colonel

Charles H. Wood served with the 51st Ohio Infantry, rising to lieutenant colonel and commanding the regiment at the Battle of Nashville in December 1864. He was promoted to colonel on January 20, 1865, leading the unit until it mustered out that October. The 51st Ohio fought through major Army of the Cumberland campaigns, including Chickamauga and the Atlanta Campaign, with Wood in command during the war’s final year.
