Sharp’s Brigade – Battle of Nashville Trust

Samuel Benton, an attorney and newspaper publisher, served as a colonel in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War. He was promoted to brigadier general but died of wounds received in the Battle of Atlanta before word of his promotion reached him. He was born in 1820 and died in 1864.
