July 2026 Battle of Nashville Trust Newsletter

The July 2026 Battle of Nashville Trust Newsletter marks an important milestone in the Trust’s continuing transformation. In his first extended message as President, Brad Gericke outlines a bold new vision for the organization, emphasizing BONT’s commitment to becoming a nationally recognized historical preservation organization dedicated to acquiring, preserving, interpreting, and sharing the story of the Battle of Nashville for future generations.

The newsletter also highlights the Trust’s then-pending opportunity to acquire an additional 1.2 acres of historic battlefield land at Shy’s Hill. Since publication of the newsletter, that acquisition has been successfully completed, expanding BONT’s preserved holdings on Shy’s Hill to nearly six acres and representing the Trust’s third battlefield property acquisition there in just over two years. Readers are encouraged to view the Trust’s accompanying News article (below) announcing the completed purchase and the launch of its continuing Battlefield Preservation Campaign.

Also featured are details of the July meeting of the Nashville Civil War Roundtable, Howard Mann’s historical article, “The Beaus of Maggie Lindsley,” and other news and activities of the Battle of Nashville Trust.
